Summer is here – change is in the air!
Summer is a time to make changes
As Dr Deepak Chopra reminds us change can be scary. The unknown is part of change and that can be frightening. Many people fear uncertainty but when you face it (as Dr Susan Jeffers recommends in Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway) a new world opens up for you. You see new possibilities and opportunities – it is as if you have taken off the blinkers and opened up your vision.
If you find yourself in a fearful situation you may be feeling trapped and uncertain as to which strategy to use; which way to turn especially if it is a situation that you haven’t met before. The longer you leave it the harder it will be to change. Summer is here and this shows us how change and transition is part of life. We change every day, nature grows, matures and then dies. We are not the same people we were as children and not even the same people as we were last year.
This is a beautiful thing. It is fluid and gives us many opportunities to grow and transform. We can become what we want to be rather than being stuck with what we have.
If you embrace the idea that you are changing even if you don’t want to – your skin sloughs off almost daily, your hair grows regardless of whether you do anything – then you can transform yourself into the person you really want to be.
Take the opportunity now that summer is here to do something different every day. Something small if necessary – take a different way to work, put your shoes on without sitting down if you normally do and sit down if you normally don’t! Shift your focus on life and see what abundance comes your way.“As you begin changing your thinking, start immediately to change your behaviour. Begin to act the part of the person you would like to become. Take action on your behaviour.”
– John Maxwell
